And the easiest thing about this …

And I’m going to give it to you in just a second in terms of what you should do.

But, remember the China One Child rule? Well now they’re beyond the point where they can replace their people. And if you go to Europe, you get the same problem. They’re not getting more and more people. The place where we have a technologically savvy workforce that can move into the manufacturing world, which has become technology based is here. Oh, that’s good news!

So, we need to look at these things. So what you should do. This is really cool. I’ve said it before, and they’re not my words.

Demography is destiny.

If you don’t repeat these words every single morning, you’re going to get caught. Where are the people that we need? How are we bringing them through? And the easiest way – and here’s the mug shot of the guy that says these words. That’s Ken Gronbach.

And here’s what you should do. And you should do it today. I’ve been saying this for five years. You should do this today. You should read these books [The Age Curve and Decades of Difference: Making it Work]. These are game-changer books. They changed my life.

You should read these books. Because we’re going to integrate generations in the workforce and you need to know how to look at the world economy. I love Ken Gronbach. He lives 600 miles up off the face of the earth, and I live down here on the street. And when we talk … Incidentally, he’s actually here today. Wouldn’t you welcome him? This is Ken Gronbach who’s joined us and he didn’t know I was doing this incidentally, but if you’ve been to a presentation of mine, you know that this is always up there. Because you need to be doing this, because it’s changing so fast.

We need to know where to watch.

 Now, Game-changer #2 – the collapse of Moore’s Law.

That’s that thing that says it’s changing every 18 months and it’s going to become subatomic. What does that mean? We’re either going to have to push the envelope of silicone.

What would happen to California if they couldn’t produce any more silicone because it’s not needed? Because the technology surpassed silicone?  What would happen to Silicone Valley? Do you see where the consequences of this could be almost immediate?

Well, watch silicone manufacturing. The other best candidate right now (could change tomorrow) is molecular computing. The problem with molecules? They’re little bitty things and they’re pretty hard to wire up. But they’re also looking at light technology. We can take a light beam and put another light beam through that light beam and there’s information on the light beams and when they come out the other side? They still have all the information intact. Oh.

There’s other alternatives as well. Let’s take a look here. This was Monday. Monday: Moore’s Law on Steroids: World Computing Power for One Type of Calculation is Doubling Every Three Weeks. This is astounding. Let’s look at nanotechnology, another game-changer – those little bitty things that are going to run around in our blood stream. It’s those things that are less than 100 nanometers in width. Individual atoms and molecules – we’re down to the molecular level. Wow!

Well here we go – The Journal of Nanotechnology: Strategies for Biofabrication of Human Organs. Does that make you a little queasy? If you needed a kidney, you might be happy to read this, yeah? Alright. So, can you see this fly?

It’s actually a computer, on the tip of a little finger. That can go around and do stuff and if you go on YouTube you can watch it fly around and do stuff. Nanotechnology – little. Six Amazing Inventions Made Possible by Nanotechnology.

We’ll look at a few of them.

Looks like a tea bag, doesn’t it? I would hope to have a whole box of these if I were in the Philippines. Because you can take a teabag and put it in the neck of a bottle of water and it takes out all the nasties before … as you drink it. Wow! Could that be life-changing for people in difficult places? This is a muscle, and it can go around in your bloodstream and work its way through and it can move through the body and diagnose and heal the body. And this is already working. It’s available. They’re doing it. It’s now.

This next one is really cool as we move to winter. Am I in the middle of it? Pretty much. That road has nanofibers built into it and it knows to keep the road above freezing. Remember those transformational kinds of jobs? We don’t need to haul salt. We don’t need to push sand. We don’t need to do that anymore because we’re getting smarter in the way we manage things. Nanotechnology in the road itself.

And this – which I’m glad you can’t really see in full color – is a sewer plant.  But they can use nanotechnology in the sewage itself and put up photovoltaic cells that can come up and from that they get energy. So, we can harvest energy from these kinds of situations.

And these are clothes on a clothesline. Photovoltaic cells are part of the thread. This is not like what we have right now … There’s a backpack that people have and from the backpack they can plug in their cellphone and so forth. This is in the clothing – this is part of the thread that it was woven from. These exist now. So, nanotechnology – cool stuff.

Let’s talk about data analytics.

Now we get there. Big data is going to change everybody now. And if we take a look here, it’s about exponential growth and availability of data, both structured and unstructured. It may be as important to business and society as the internet. And it’s here now.

There are several companies actually here in Connecticut. This is a chef’s hat – a sushi chef’s hat. Because one company needed customer service reps. They were in the middle group – transactional based employees. They do things by certain rules. And big data said, “let me come into your company, and we’ll put some code in the back of your computers and we’ll find out in three days we’ll find out what the best CSRs (Customer Service Representatives) do.”

They download Google Chrome rather than using Internet Explorer. The best ones. Cause and effect? I don’t care, I just want to know the effect. So, they can figure out what makes the best CSRs. And then they went off and they made a game called “Sushi Chef.” And invited people to come play, “we’re working on a new game.

Before you leave our website would you like to play the game?” And you go out to Sushi Chef and they’re recording everything you’re doing and they can come back to that company and say, ”in your area, here are the five best CSR’ you can find.”
